Nurses who have worked in Alzheimer's and memory care facilities, can you give me some feedback?

I worked in memory care for a little over 1 year. For the most part it was okay, but if you aren't as patient, it can be stressful. The residents dont really understand how to do things all the time and they can get frustrated. For the most part they were really sweet but I think they always held on to their personalities and thats what was so enjoyable.

Watching them decline was tough and because of the nature of the work, its tough to bond with someone and watch them decline until they pass away. We did sometimes have more psych patients that while they did have dementia, they also had schizophrenia or other mental illness. Had a few extremely combative patients that we ended up 51-50ing because they posed too much of a danger to themselves and others.

Ended up leaving because of management. Can't say I'd 100% go back but it wasnt an awful experience or anything.
