Nurses, please do right by your PCTs/Aides

Also, just a couple questions … how many days a week do you stay 1hr + late, a rough estimate is fine. How many days a week do you not get a lunch? Did you ever ask the nurse what he/she is doing that may be preventing in assisting with a bed change? Did u think about asking the nurse how many meds each pt is on and consider how long passing upwards of 20 meds on each pt might take? Did u check the labs on each pt to make sure their hb didn’t drop again which may be why the patient is suddenly pale and lethargic? Did u think that maybe shes busy getting the q2 sugars u didn’t for her insulin gtt pt in dka. If you tell the nurse pt wants some juice, do u facilitate initiating a diet order from the pt just coming back from or? There’s a lot you don’t see. But your arrogance is what scares me. I don’t work with a single nurse who thinks they’re above a bed change. But when it comes down to it, delegation and prioritizing falls on the nurse. Noones gonna bring a cna into court unless there’s obvious gross negligence. Tasking and critical thinking require different skill sets, both of which the nurse is liable. U need to humble yourself because I’ve never worked one shift where every aid didn’t get a break. If u don’t like what u do get a new job for 12 bucks an hour that seems like a you problem. But do not come on a nursing forum and disrespect the profession because anytime I ask an aid for help I have to piddle paddle around and say I’m so sorry can u please help me with xyz while I watch u roll ur eyes. Then u leave my pt on bedpan for 30 minutes without telling anyone or leave a fall risk in the bathroom by themselves and guess who takes the hit. And what level of degree do u have? Sad but true it matters in terms of pay scale, your education level as a cna (our cnas arenr certified) is not equivalent to that of someone with a bachelors, associates, whatever. If u wanna pass my meds, update fam, clarify orders, interpret labs, do dressing changes and assessments then by all means we can trade. When I can do anything myself for my patient, I do. When I need help I ask for it respectfully. So u need to relax and appreciate the perspective of your job description vs that of a nurse’s. Go post on the cna forum because there’s no reason u should be here to hate on nurses. U have no idea what ur taking about.
