Honestly I imagine my opponent to make the same passes I would when pressured so I run alongside him and once I see him stop, or when I know he’s about to pass I will then and only then use match up to stand and block the ball. Yes we know sometimes when u use matchup the ball still goes through your legs but sometimes it doesn’t. You can then use that interception to your advantage and start your counter attack. I’d give it a 6.5-7 for defending because although you have to manually chase down guys and stand infront, or block the passing lanes, most of the time my players have good positioning. Only thing I can say to improve defence would be to let go of ‘press’ and just simply run alongside the player and try to block before he makes the pass. The main goal isn’t to make sure the opponents passes are all blocked, but it’s more of a make sure u are able to stop the final and important pass which would’ve resulted in you conceding. Once again if u think you can just use match up and hope you can make every block possible you will be complaining forever man. Not even in real life do players block every pass made. If that was the case no one would concede lol. Also, try to not involve your dmfs in the attack because if they follow the attackers your mid becomes open season on the counter. Yes we would love for the ai to do our defending work but this is just how the game is now man…Just my opinion tho.
