One barista is annoyed to prepare pour-over coffee with cream. A long argument ensues regarding "artistic expression" or lack thereof in preparing coffee for customers.

It doesn’t destroy it but it does defeat the point depending on your motivation for going to the store. You might taste the difference between Maxwell and Specialty but you wont appreciate the difference between the same beans made by someone with $3000 equipment and someone with $300 equipment. And that a big reason why some coffee lovers go to shops rather than home.

If you’re like most people and you just want coffee for a million valid reasons, Cream is fine. But if you’ve come for the specific reason that you want what is an artisanal product that you can’t replicate at home, then cream is counter productive to what you came to the shop for. That’s the only reason to suggest otherwise, and even then it should always be kept as friendly advice and nothing more.
