Kind of starting to believe it's being done on purpose.

They gave out PS5 download codes to reviewers who had zero issue pressing "Download". Those folks are playing right now, so the game is clearly "visible" and downloadable as far as the PS store is concerned. And suddenly nobody can download it for 48+ hours - couldnt even predownload it.

I'm thinking something was discovered either by the early access players or the devs, and SloClap is trying to fix it before reuploading the game to the store.

The download button not working is not a hard fix - it takes all of 5 seconds to modify the script to point it at the actual game, so there's got to be more to this than they're letting on.
