Putin offers Europe gas through Nord Stream 2, Germany declines

Germany doesn't want to be dependent on Russian gas anymore. Putin's untrustworthy.

This will go against popular opinion but it needs to be said.

People shit on trump and I hate the orange fucker too, but his admin was openly criticizing the German govt for Nordstream, and his admin even sanctioned it to slow it down. The reasoning was exactly what we were saying now. Russia is not trustworthy. Only they said it years before this invasion on ukraine took place.

So no one can act like this is some recent realization. Its really Germany's fault for the situation it's in now, for going all in on Russian energy with little diversification or alternative infastucture built for importing from other countries.

In fact, they passed on building LNG ports in the past, which would have helped switch from Russia to western allies. But since Russian gas is cheaper they decided it wasn't important.

And the fact that they are still buying Russian gas means they are still indirectly funding their war. Germany said they end Russian gas purchases in mid 2024.
