One Photo Almost Derailed This Pole Vaulter’s Promising Career | A photo of Allison Stokke facing away from the camera was captioned with a lewd caption on a third-party website. The photographer tried to sue the website for stealing his photo. She went to university on a pole vaulting scholarship.

I remember when this happened. Someone even wrote a Wikipedia article about her at the time - a 17 year old high school athlete getting a fucking Wikipedia article. I could see it being a worthy entry if she was a truly exceptional, world-class athlete that had gotten national or global attention like Tara Lipinksi or Serena Williams, but no, it was just a short article about an unexceptional high school track and field competitor - with that famous photo attached to it, of course. Creeps gonna creep, I guess. Thankfully Wikipedia ultimately deleted it because she was not a person of note.

However there is an article about her now, and it's primarily about her unsought internet fame from being a sexualized young female athlete. Ironically the picture they use for the article is from 2008, taken just one year after the famous photo was taken. I guess because she's college age in the photo it's all above board...I guess.
