Hell no. Ash lost so many times in DP it was depressing necause the Sinnoh trainers were more serious, Paul abused chimchar, Team Galactic was pretty dark, and Ash had like 2 depression arcs. XY was more light hearted than DP. I'm the first episode of DP, Pikachu gets sick and stranded from Ash. The most serious first episode of a show. Paul is the most serious rival that we have ever had who ABUSED a pokemon. Chimchar had literal PTSD. Chimchar literally bit Ash in the shoulder while going berserk with blaze. Monferno got embarrassingly beat by the trainer that used to abuse him. Ash lost his first gym battle right infront of Paul. It was a far more serious & adult show.
