[Politics] If you are a Buddhist does that mean you automatically have to be Left wing? Is it possible to be Buddhist and politically right wing?

When I was in high school I had a number of friends who were the children of Korean immigrants. They were newly minted Christians as many Koreans back home were. Sort of the reverse of many Westerners becoming newly minted, enthusiastic Buddhist converts.

These kids and their parents knew the bible, and lived by what they learned as much as possible, in some ways even more so than devout American Christians I knew.

For a start, the read the entire bible and reread it on a regular basis. No shortage of articles found through Google stating that most American Christians have never read the entire bible.

I think there are many Western Buddhists who have read more of the Pali Canon than many people who grew up in Buddhist countries. Among those Western Buddhists I think many more of them take the dhamma straight, not through cultural rationalizations, than many people in Buddhist countries do.

I think many Western Christians, if they took Christianity as straight as Asian converts do, and as straight as Western converts to Buddhism do, couldn't vote Republican and be consistent with their values.
