Had this during my first longish survival. Helicopter triggered (I had no idea what was going on and thought it was some kind of rescue maybe!), I tried using campfires outside the house to maybe signal to it and also help burn some of the zombies appearing from everywhere. Very quickly the whole house is burning down and I'm legging it out through a growing horde. Didn't end well.

2nd long run I'm now a few months in. Managed to set up a nice base in a little warehouse. I've lit a couple of campfires inside on a gravel surface, keeping it a few tiles away from any wooden objects. No issues so far! Managed to nab an antique stove from a house nearby now though so don't think I will be using open fires any more.
