There's a problem on r/pics right now.
Some guy with some mental illness who takes bad selfies of himself outside while reporting the weather is praised as a god of meteorology by insincere people who like to jack themselves off about being nice to people with obvious mental illness.
He was posting a selfie a day recently. Sometimes several.
His content was flooding the top daily/currently popular posts of r/pics every single day.
Do you not believe that it may be an issue to visit a subreddit intended to be of nice photographs and see the same shitty selfies of the same guy every single day? Do you not understand that people might say "Well, this isn't really how this is supposed to work, there's an oversaturation of this content, and its actively damaging the experience of using the subreddit by flooding it with one person's very samey content"?
Do you really believe "hey man its PICS its a PICTURE shut UP get OVER IT" is a fair response to that issue rather than a conversation about the rules and how the subreddit is used and whether or not using it like that is beneficial for its users?
Yeah, on the most basic level, his pictures are pictures and thus technically belong on a subreddit for pictures. But if people want to see his fucking face every god damn day in some shitty selfie they can follow his fucking instagram?
Yeah, on the most basic level, pukicho posts on tumblr are tumblr posts and they "fit" here. But if I wanted to see fucking every god damn stupid think he fucking posts I'd follow him on fucking tumblr?
Dominating conversation with this one guy's content is dumb. EVERYTHING he posts gets posted here. If people want to see every single thing one guy posts they can follow him! Instead of coming here and seeing actual varied content by a thousand other people they'd never see before or ever see again, which is how this subreddit got popular. Seeing one-off content that made it big on tumblr or deserved more attention.
It's not supposed to be a platform for one tumblr celebrity to be posted over and over and over and over and over every single god damn day
