[Question?] Been out of the game since Summer/fall of last year. What is the meta and How do good decks currently work?

Budget right now would be Yosenju, as you can easily get the Main for 50$. Ritual Beasts too, if you've got E-Tele.

The main addition to the game is Pendulum Monsters, which are explained here; they can behave as spell cards, placed in Pendulum Zones, go face-up to the extra deck when sent to the Graveyard from the field, and can be Pendulum Summoned back from there.

Staples didn't change much, most people side mass S/T removal to deal with Qliphorts (see below). Vanity's, Bottomless, Torrential Tribute... Compulsory is losing steam because the top decks don't give many fucks about it.

The most powerful decks:

Nekroz, Ritual Archetype, mains about 15 searchers, over-the-top consistency. Their Ritual monsters wear the hide of DT dead monsters as armours. They can create a Djinn Lock by tributing Djinn Releaser of Rituals for one of their ritual monsters, their "big play" is Nekroz of Trishula, that banishes one card from your hand, field, and grave on summon.

Qliphorts are a Pendulum Archetype, that has, once again, search power. They are represented by Scout, that can search one "Qli" card per turn for 800 LP. Most of their monsters support Tributing, gaining effects either when tributed or tribute summoned. If they are not properly Tribute Summoned (normal summoned without tributes or Pendulum Summoned), they get level 4 and 1800 attack. Qlis usually main three Skill Drain.

Burning Abyss: losing steam right now, but it still has powerful plays. XYZ and somewhat Synchros, all the main deck monsters are level 3 DARK Fiends. They have effects activating when sent to grave, even when used as costs, making the deck able to main 3 PWWB without trouble. Their signature card, Dante, is a rank 3 XYZ that mills three cards per turn and adds a Burning Abyss card to hand when sent to grave.

Shaddoll: a Fusion archetype, all Main Deck monster have one FLIP effect and one "When sent to grave by a card effect" one. They can fuse from deck if their opponent controls a monster summoned from the Extra Deck. All the Fusion Monsters have effects aiming to restrict or punish Special Summoning in some way, and allow you to get a Shaddoll Spell/Trap back to hand when sent to grave. Generally played with Mathematician and the baby Chaos Dragons for milling and EARTH/LIGHT fusion materials. /r/Shaddolls could give you more information about them (also, they make for a great hybrid with Bujins: Yamato dumps Shaddolls from hand for effects and Fusioning sends relics to grave from deck). Usually mains Mistake right now to deal with Nekroz.

And that's about it! Nekroz get about 5/8 tops in tourneys, Qlis get two, and the occasionnal rogue deck gets one (Yosenjus, Volcanics, Ritual Beasts, Tellarknights).

If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
