A question that is bothering me

Ok, I will just write my rough answer:

Firstly, you should take note that science is a secular system which finds the most probable occurrence, science never takes in miracles to account - it doesn't take in other information. For instance let's say a doctor studied Jesus (as) chromosomes, he would find that Jesus (as) had a Y chromosome even though he didn't have a father. The doctor would conclude through scientific observation that the most likely occurrence was that Jesus (as) had a father. But Jesus (as) did not have a father, he was created miraculously. Is science ever going to take this into account..?

Secondly, there is no timeline for Adam (as) that we have seen (6000 years is part of Christianity not Islam), Adam (as) could be anything - however since he was given intelligence I assume that Allah Azzawajal placed Adam (as) on the Earth amongst other Species with the Homo Genome at a later date. And then since Adam (as)'s offspring were intelligent they surpassed other Human species at that time.

Thirdly, Islam can accept evolution of every other creature on Earth - in many cases when Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) uses the term create it is used to mean over a period of time. These verses kind of seem to hint to evolution of other creatures:

  • Allah has created every [living] creature from water. And of them are those that move on their bellies, and of them are those that walk on two legs, and of them are those that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. [Qur'an, 24:45]

See how it advances, first bellies - then two legs - then four legs, overall this is what evolution gives (even though it's many mutations, but overall you see this type of progression).

  • [All] praise is [due] to Allah , Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. [Qur'an, 35:1]

Again we see a progression here.

Now, let's move on:

The process of natural selection allows creatures to be adapted to their environment, now take away the lone secular glasses. If Allah Azzawajal was going to place a creature on Earth, wouldn't it make sense that He made the creature similar to whatever creature was fit to leave in the natural habitat of the Earth at the time. For instance if Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) were to place us during the Jurassic Period it would make sense that we were created similar to whatever creature was the most adapted to it's environment so that we could stay on Earth and survive in worshipping Allah (subhana wa ta'ala). Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) always created Adam (as) with the knowledge that he would end up on the Earth.

The Islamic View is that the creation of man was a miracle, we don't have a timeline for Adam (as) as far as I can see, and therefore Adam (as) could have been placed anywhere. We have quite a lot of strange differences to other animals, such as strong existential knowledge, the ability to ask questions, high intelligence - these also happen to be the differences you'd think you'd need to be tested by Allah Azzawajal on Earth.

It was observed that despite the training and many research experiments that primates like Kanzi and the other apes failed to ask questions themselves. Joseph Jordania suggested that the ability to ask questions is probably the central cognitive element that distinguishes human and animal cognitive abilities.

And animals have only asked when they were repeatedly told, who told us?

You can look this up.

Hope this helps!
