r/headphones Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-08-18)

I am kind of looking at the HD650, HD 599. I was looking at the DT770 but eh. Information on rtings shows the soundstage on the dt770 is poorer.

the 599 looks better due to the connector and could get cables easier for it plus its cheaper. I could save the money and use it for a microphone and an amp if I need one which I found others on here say the 599 don't need an amp.

  • Budget - See above.
  • Source - Currently my computer.
  • Requirements for Isolation - Do you need a lot, some, or none? If you're not sure what isolation is, more isolation will block outside noises, none will not. It's also helpful if you say where you mainly will use your headphones, for instance: At home, outdoors, on public transportation
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? no. I use free headphones with my phone for that I don't need public headphones to be that amazing currently.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - over ear
  • Preferred tonal balance - I love a good bass from metal or hardstyle but would prefer a smooth overall.
  • Past headphones - Steelseries Siberia v2. It's a gaming headset. Liked it for when I was mostly gaming with others but now moving away from that, more single player and now want to focus on audio with music/films. I like these have a microphone so I can use it for video/audio calls!
  • Preferred Music - Tool, Scooter, Sabaton, Bach, Vocals. I listen to everything.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Next better headphones

Non US but all three im looking at I can get locally or amazon/official site.
