Rant Wednesday!

Manager is an ASSHOLE.

When i was interviewing for the role, the network manager was complaining about the bureaucracy and how things are wrong in the company. He told me he is happy that i am coming in and he being technical was looking forward to being just a manager while i help the technical team.

Guess what ? he is the exact same asshole that he said his boss's boss was.. Micro management, trust issues, irrational ideas, wants to extend layer 2 to all sites, wants me to come in early, at 8:00 am, even though our we are 247. We are running in the night without a network guy on site, but god damn we need a network admin on site at 8:00am just in case a user comes in and there is a ticket for a printer or dot1x blocked machine. Ohh did i mention, *no on-call money.**

I was so motivated when i joined this company, i wanted to automate some basic stuff, make some changes to resolve their architecture issues, but this guy quashed every good idea i had. And now months later he is slowly bringing in the same ideas i suggested months ago.

The worst part is this guy was a network admin for years before he went into management. How can he not understand how a tech guy feels, I've worked with non technical managers who understood my pain..anyways, this rant has gone too long.. we will now wait for next Wednesday.

Finally, why am i still here ? The marked outside is weird, there's not a lot of money and i would need either a high level cert or sheer luck to get a job like this. I have interviewed around and every job is offering $15 per hour less than here.

the question is, if $15 is enough for this torture...the more i think about it..the more i want to quite and just see whats next..maybe even travel. fuck this guy.. and his Boss's Boss.. everyone here is ok.
