Are there any side hustles being a network engineer?

I left a salary job for another salary job with higher pay. Instead of leaving Company 1 high and dry, I worked out a deal to where I would work full time at Company 2, but stay on at Company 1 as 1099 to finish up some loose ends on a project that I was critical for. Worked out for about six months until the project at Company 1 was done.

Might not sound like much, but the real value of this arrangement was that I looked like an absolute god to Company 1 for finishing what I started. So when I became dissatisfied with Company 2 less than a year later, I was able to come back to Company 1 full time again with an even higher salary and title.

So I guess it's a way for you to hop jobs, not burn bridges, and pull two paychecks.
