Can't you just feed him more? When we fed my Danes raw and they needed more calories they just got more food. How are you feeding? Are you doing whole animal or frankenprey? Do you weigh each meal or just let them gorge and balance their calories over a matter of days?

If you're feeding whole do you kill the animals or let your dog? Mallies are a lot more prey driven than Danes. When we'd give my Danes rabbits or something they wouldn't hurt them when they were alive but once we broke their neck they'd go to town. I'm wondering if it might be beneficial for a mallies natural hunting drive to let them handle the meal on their own from chasing it down to eating it.
