Reddit helped save this dog from freezing outside in the cold. [Story in comments]

tl;dr: /u/LaurenKribbs posts about a dog in Houston found huddling next to his deceased buddy in the cold. I saw the post, asked my sister to help, and she saved him. If all this hadn't happened, he may have frozen to death as the temperature was set to drop into the 20s that night.

Full story...

On the morning of January 7th, I was browsing /r/houston and saw this post:http://www.reddit.com/r/houston/comments/2rmqbh/poor_poor_doggy_looses_his_best_friend_please/

which contained a link to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-20ltieHAEY&feature=youtu.be

I could tell just by watching the video that this was a sweet little dog. He was looking at Lauren, but didn't want to leave the body of his deceased friend. I really wanted to help, but I was at work and there's no way I could leave to help this guy without getting fired so I called my mom and asked if she could help. She wanted to, but she was already on her way to help my grandma.

So I texted my sister and she responded immediately - she was getting in her car and all she needed was an address.

When she arrived on the scene there was a news crew there (!).

She met with Lauren and picked up the little helpless pup. She even brought along a little sweater for him (it was really cold that day, and that night temperatures were to drop into the 20s. It's VERY lucky that all of this happened when it did!).

Within a couple hours Amanda took the pup to the vet and the news crew came along too.

Unforunately the vet told us they found he had 3 different types of worms, including heartworms. The heartworm treatment takes around 2 months to complete, so we will be looking after him until he is back to 100%.

Since then there has been a lot of support from people who heard the story offering to foster, adopt, and donate to his vet bills. Right now it's looking like it will cost over $2,000 to cover his treatments.

If you would like to donate to help cover the pup's medical bills, you can do so by following this link:
