Your Ted talk was interesting and made some valid points that made me think of our cat. Our cat definitely has some dog-like behaviors from how we interacted with him before we got our dog and just from his natural big personality. Half the time, he runs to me when called, he sits down next to our dog and waits to see if we will give him a treat (we do), he will carry a wand toy in his mouth and drag it around our home to bring it to us to tell us he wants us to play with him. But he’s also definitely cat: will completely ignore us, most things have to be His idea, and he rips the feathers off his wands toys and puts them in and around his food dish like he hunted his food.
