Rex Reed's review of Logan (2017)

Rex Reed. This silly, simple-minded, often-baffled granny has been consistently blind to the quality of adult-minded and uniquely contemporary movies his entire career. Here are a few of the movies he hated (his favorite terms when he hasn't got a clue what's happening are "pretentious" and"boring") which I think are valuable:

Arrival, Inception, Oldboy, In Bruges; Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang; Batman Begins, Funny Games, Solaris, Adaptation, Punch-Drunk Love, Apocalypto, Brick, The Fountain, The Bourne Identity, Mulholland Drive, The Neon Demon, The Nice Guys, Birth, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Knight of Cups, Michael Clayton, The Darjeeling Limited, Palindromes, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Broken Flowers, Black Snake Moan, Elephant, Big Fish, Signs, Legend, Maps to the Stars, Mr. Turner, Sherlock Holmes, Birdman, A Prairie Home Companion, Under The Skin, Pontypool, The Limits of Control, Don Jon, Only God Forgives, The Men Who Stare At Goats, To The Wonder, Side Effects, Killing Them Softly, Seven Psychopaths, Split, The Master, Moonrise Kingdom, The Cabin in the Woods, Haywire, A Dangerous Method, Dogville, I Heart Huckabees, The Village, The Tree of Life, True Grit, Black Swan, I Love You Philip Morris, The Limits of Control, Duplicity, Doubt and Synecdoche, New York.

He did, however, think Battleship was better than all of the above.

Based on his track record (in relation to my own observations), if he's really repelled by a film, especially a challenging or "artful" work, I tend to think it might be worth watching.
