The Rival Conceptions of God by C.S. Lewis Doodle (BBC Talk 6, Mere Christianity Chapter 6)

I watched this video quite recently, it was quite "enlightening", especially and ironically so because it followed me watching a video on very esoteric yoga practices posted on reddit ( - shaktism)

So (among other things) CS Lewis makes a comparison between monotheistic religions and pantheism..typified by Hinduism.

The other video i watched is an explication of esoteric hindu practices. Now i have an interest in the comparison because i'm of a Hindu background but was drawn (dragged !) into the Catholic church.

So what shall i say of my ancestral background ?..i think the object of the hindu religion is not God or towards God as such but is enlightenment.

Other Catholics say of pagan religions that it is the worship of demons. I find this somewhat unsubtle because not least Hindus don't have a concept of "The Devil".

So, notwithstanding my statement on "hindu enlightenment", the upshot to my mind is that if the predominant conception of God is feminine, then if in the Catholic contraposition you state this religion is demonic then one makes Woman (with a capital W) the Devil.

I find all this tremenously perplexing and tremendously interesting, i think the likes of Jeffrey Kirpal and Wendy Doniger are spot on in a Freudian reading of Hinduism.

By the same analysis and in comparison, Christian scripture will often typify wayward humanity as a errant sinful woman who has to be bought/brought back The Son's sacrifice.

If i were to make a further freudian comparison between Hindu and Christian readings, it's almost as if God characterizes his own unfaithfulness as a woman who is "The Devil". Or alternatively God denies his Feminine side and characterizes that as the devil.

Where my Catholicism comes in is as a rational corrective, because Catholics as an article of faith do not divinize woman, so Catholic christianity serves as a non-overlapping disjunct set of beliefs to paganism and HInduism especially.

Because if Catholicism did so it would be conceptually equal to Hinduism and distinctions would be erased, whereas in reality they remain firm on every level.

Because to say of God that he is denial of his feminine side is a non-sensical statement because God is not like men that he employs psychological denial. Furthermore in another sense he transcends gender (Man and Woman made in God's image).

So wherefore art woman in the Catholic scheme of things?....if God transcends gender but man and woman are made in his image, what would be the perfect embodiment of his femininity than the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The perfect Creature.. remember that Christian theology always maintains the distinction between mankind and Divinity. Creature and Creator have only one synthesis and that is Jesus Christ.
