I have the same thought pattern and it annoys my parents

bear in mind, it's one thing for kids and young adults to behave like this. You're just learning what interactions are fun for you and are tolerable (or not) for those you're interacting with. To still be behaving like this when you're in your fifties and sixties shows that, maybe, I suppose it means that you created a game-ified life situation where trying to be hard for others to anticipate (or even understand) is how you score points in your game. Just know that pretty much everyone else dislikes being involved in this game, even if they're aspies too.

Just know that you probably weren't committing some mortal sin, but something much more minor, you know, just looking like you were TRYING to befuddle people. It is, however, in my never-actually-diagnosed-because-why opinion, that the refined aspie doesn't care enough about being understood by others to score imaginary points by being intentionally mis-understood by them.
