[SERIOUS] Let's turn the tables on the "killed someone" thread. People who have saved another's life, directly or indirectly, what happened?

This is actually something I can contribute to.

My father and I were coming home from the vet with our dog, I was 16 at the time. We were on a fairly busy road in the mid afternoon, the roads were split by a median of cars going in opposite directions at around 50mph.

My dad and I are talking in the car and up ahead I notice what looks like a racoon moving across the road. As we get closer I notice it's not a racoon, but a toddler in his diaper, no more than 1 year old it looked like. Completely naked except for the diaper. Crawling across the busy road in front of us.

We both verbally said aloud 'Holy shit' or something to that effect, completely in disbelief of what we were seeing. Without any planning we sprang into action. My dad pulled over on the right side of the road into a plaza and I leaped out of the car to get to the road to get the baby. The baby, who somehow managed to make his way into the median was safe for the time being, but obviously wasn't safe forever there. I crossed over the road to the median, and now the baby was in front of me.

On lookers from the opposite side of the road at a restaurant had come out to see what in the hell is going on, a baby is in the median and this other kid is there with him. I shouted that we don't know who the parents are, we just found him in the road.

So, now I need to bring the baby to the side of the road with my father so we're out of harms way. (my dad had already called 911 at this point) Now, being a 16 year old, I'm not a pro at holding babies. I hate to say that I kind of nervous when I was trying to pick him up, as I was scared as crap. But then, I didn't have a choice. The baby made some sprint back into traffic right as an oncoming car was passing. I grabbed him by the leg and yanked him into my grip so I was now holding him. Had I not, I sincerely believed he would have been crushed.

I brought him over to the side of the road with my dad, and the onlookers from the restaurant had come over to with us. We were all shocked at the situation of how a baby ended up crawling over the busy road. The officer came, took down my name and my father's and took over with the baby from there.

My father and I got back in our car and continued home once the officer said he has everything he needs from us. Was a crazy experience.
