Don't do it! Shell is in the process of laying off 40% of their unconventional assets staff and the rest of the company will be hit as hard or harder in the next 6 months. I have sat in on a townhall at Shell where the Upstream Director plainly stated he no longer views Shell as a lifetime employer. The CEO is working hard to get Shell out of the petroleum business. Look at the recent announcements from both Shell and BP. I am surprised I even have to say this at this point but do not go into oil and gas, choose literally anything else it is the most unstable line of work imaginable and the industry is in it's death throes, which is manifested in the wild volatility of the last 5 years.
