Shell-shocked WW-I veteran terrified of his own uniform

All my sympathies to you both. Y'all are my hubs and me in 10 years. Cherishing every day although sometimes only in hindsight lol. He joined at 17, OIF/OEF vet, now 38 and still keeps his back to the walls and alerts at loud bangs. We have to make noise when he's around the house so we don't accidentally spook him (while he's gradually losing hearing and I'm naturally a very quiet person). New Years and July 4th are so... weird now; staying awake because he can't sleep with that noise rather than because of celebrating like before he served overseas, feels so long ago. November 11th gets bad too but at least there's no fireworks.

Happy New Year, I hope it's a good one for you two.
