This should be happening for senior nursing students as well.....

Look you're clearly not seeing the big picture here.

This isn't about you and your 5 weeks.

This is about you thinking that it's a good idea when in reality it is not a good idea and will do more harm than good. We need more PPE and we need more experienced nurses who know wtf they're doing. You are a liability. Unless you're literally doing the role of a tech (in which case just apply to be one), you will be inefficient in the hospital system. Somebody will have to watch out for you while still trying to do their duties. That just leads to more stress, more burnout, and a higher chance of mistakes being made by both parties.

And when I say "you" I am speaking generally, referring to the generic fresh-grad. I am aware that I'm speaking to Florence fucking Nightingale herself here and you're the exception to this general statement.

I'm sorry that you don't get to work sooner. It sucks that most of us would rather preserve whatever standard of care we can.

If things are still this bad in August then there's a good chance that many new grads won't even be able to get a job or their (very necessary) training (that is under supervision) will get suspended/delayed/minimized in some form.
