Shoutout to the girls dying inside for a private

This comment really struck me for some reason.

I haven’t cammed much, and more to see how it feels than for income, but I can certainly relate to feeling invisible.

At the same time, putting “urges” in quotes, as if a client’s sexual desires are somehow inauthentic? Aren’t they the entire basis for the transactional relationship? People with disposable income aren’t just trolling cam sites looking for worthy recipients for their excess funds out of a sense of altruism.

And the whole idea of being “at their mercy”…

Sex work (particularly anything that isn’t full-service) is fundamentally the commoditization of emotional labor. But as the seller, it is entirely within your power to define the boundaries of what you will offer a client. It is, however, the very nature of cam sites that creates a competitive economy between models, which fosters this kind of “at the mercy” dynamic.
