Shovel Knight – amiibo Reveal Trailer (feat. Game Grumps)

Have you ever been so hyped that you couldn't move? A hype so real and intense that the thousands of competing joyous signals in your mind cross each other and combine to form a wash of pure white noise? I now have.

I have become the eye of the storm that is the tumult of my own emotions. Joy, bliss, ecstasy, revelry, revelation, and amazement all sing within my heart the praises of this glorious news and harmonize as only the Seraphim, the highest of the Lord's angelic choirs, have been able to since before the dawn of man. Each moment is a new rapture, a fresh ascent to heaven to cast off the shackles of this cruel earth and bask in the glory of infinity. Yet the news which lifts my soul is not divine in origin (though divine in content it may well be), but a promise borne miraculously from our cursed and sinful Earth.

I cannot help but wonder if every moment before this one, every tiny incremental step from the dawn to time to today has been building up to this moment. The rise and fall of empires, the births and deaths of untold billions, the motions of the stars in the sky, and intricate dance of countless galaxies drifting through space: all of this forms a great clock, ticking ever closer to the moment of release when this dream promised us can become a reality. One misplaced grain of sand could have derailed this eventuality. Yet, the clockmaker is grand in His design and all has progressed as laid out in the mysterious Plan, a Plan whose divine purpose is now revealed in the only way it could be, through the mouths of prophets which we have all come to follow.

I, for one, receive this news with both unbridled joy and fear. I am overwhelmed by the beauty that is our future, but I cannot help but fear that this is the beginning of the end. Where does life go from here? How does the world progress once its purpose has been fulfilled? Mankind has been striving for truth since the concept was first planted within our minds; what drives us now that all that is true and good has been revealed to us? Perhaps this is end of days. Perhaps the symphony of existence is drawing to a close, building to one climactic chord before ending, as all performances must, with silence.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really want that amiibo. Like, a lot.
