Do you think that simulation games will become a tool for testing (political) policies?

I could see lobbyists constructing software as a model for legislation they are trying to push so that they can make longterm goals and identify vulnerable opposition.

For example, let us say that you are one of the lobbyists who are trying to get recreational marijuana legalized, you could construct a model for each state legislature that shows the people who support your position and those who oppose it and plugs in the poll numbers from each election as well as research on what is important to voters in their districts. By doing this, you could identify which states are closest to passing such a bill and then target different elections to knock out elected officials that oppose your position - but by campaigning on the incumbent's weak positions in their district rather than on legalizing marijuana. That's still your goal, but because this issue is only important to pot smokers and adults who would use medical marijuana were it available, your dollars might be better spent on different issues that would allow you to gain seats that support your position.

I suspect electronic models like this already exist and are used by political insiders.
