Since moving to North FoCo I've had several issues involving homeless people.

These conversations always end up with folks erroneously demonizing the homeless as strictly drug-addled lay-abouts who just want to stir up trouble and that sucks. This shit keeps propagating and you know what happens? Violence. Forced relocation, getting manhandled by cops, city officials trashing their stuff under the auspices of more cops, literally nothing happens that benefits them. People see a homeless person in the area and call the cops because they're "scared". We just perpetuate their plight, resume the NIMBY bullshit, and put them out of sight and mind. But you know what? We aren't going to get rid of them. The way housing prices are going their numbers will just increase.

You wanna help? Volunteer at a shelter or donate. Make some care packages and drop them off at one of the north FoCo spots where they hang out. Volunteer at the library where they input valuable resources into the community to help. Volunteer with Homeward Alliance.
