This isn't like buying a VHS and expecting a DVD copy. This is like buying a game on a Mac, then wanting to play it on PC. It's the same game, no features removed or added. Take minecraft for example, you buy one copy and can play it on PC or Mac as you see fit. It's tied to a user account stating you purchased the content. Now there are minecraft versions for the console and other devices, so yes you would have to purchase those as well if you want to play them, but those are different versions with different functionality and features removed or not added yet. Hell, Kingdom Hearts Unchained can manage to give you a code to restore purchases to another device.

I not only paid the full $8 asking price in the beginning, but the additional $7 for the Season 2 content and another charge for 3 and the additional play modes. Instead of keeping track of user records, S2S leaves that up to the store you bought it from to say if you purchased it or not.
