Everything he did was because none of it was real. The money was just a joke to him, as was it all.

Basically he had no sense of reality. He needed a firm punch in the face to wake him up.

The weird idea of his transcendental path and hers was narrated by him that she had to prove she has no real material belongings which is part of how he convinced her to keep sending money.

She wanted to believe she was special and so she believed everything he said. I've read before people with NPD are pretty gullible for that reason, and Shane's crazy behavior reminds me of Borderline so it really makes me question the whole thing.

Even at the end she was ready to drink in his compliments and he immediately knew how to get through to her, through her Narcissism. So yeah.

I personally think Shane has Borderline since gaslighting, lying and erratic behaviour and emotional outbursts aren't specific to NPD, plus Shane seems to have no stable identity he just believes nothing is real so he can do whatever he pleases by bullying others.
