I was trying to be diplomatic… we agree.

At the time I bought the GU10 (for kitchen and hallways) and E12 bulbs (for the lawn), there were really no other options. It was also my first dip into smart lighting. This was maybe 2016.

I confess that half the bulbs stayed in their packaging until the one year return window closed. (I’d forgotten.). Why? It had been a real pain. It also halted any smart home beyond that doe maybe two years. It gave me a bad impression.

I only went all-in last year and everything else has been mostly stable and mostly easy to get going. The only thing worse has been Sengled door sensors (four failed in a month and we’ve waited five months for our replacements).

When two GU10s failed this year I got some SmartLife instead. They’re better but not great either. We’ll be leaving all these bulbs and the IKEA hub with the new owners when we try to sell late this year.

Pardon the therapizing!
