Skins: An in-depth rework! (read my comment)

Hi guys, Colonel Badger here. This post took a lot of time – and I would appreciate any comments / feedback / suggestions below!

This is going to be broken down as the into the following: 1. Intro 2. Chips 3. Elixir 4. Monetization

  1. Intro : Brawl stars has the fundamentals of being a great game. It’s fun, easy to pick up and play, and contains loads of quirky & unique characters! However, a problem faced by all mobile game developers is how they monetize their game. They can’t charge £30 / $30 like X-box can, and so they must make money through “micro-transactions”. This has been what has brought supercell to become so successful. The beauty of micro-transactions is that although they seem like a tiny amount of money, they quickly add up and go beyond what you would initially pay for a game. They provide “short-term” pleasure, which lasts only until they feel you need to spend more money. This has led to the success of CR and CoC. Short term pleasure is boosting that new building upgrade. Speed opening that magical chest. Buying that extra money to upgrade your troops/ buildings from the shop. This is where Brawstars lacks. Although elixir is a nice system, I feel it is a major flaw. Spending gems in Brawlstars does not provide you instant gratification – not even knowledge of what you’re getting, at this stage.

  2. Chips : You open a box. Instead of getting “1 chip” – you now get a chip for the brawler you just got. Collect these chips for each character and cash them in. Every brawler would have a “skin tier” corresponding to that. Here is the proposed system clearly laid out in an image. Note that the example uses colt, however every character would have the same tiers.   3. Elixir : Secondly, elixir. I believe a much more fun way to use elixir would be to be given an upgrade for a specific character – instead of a generic elixir! This will allow you to feel like you are making progress – round of character progression – and make it much more interesting opening boxes!   4. Monetization:
