SM Entertainment wins a lawsuit against Tao

Koreaboo just released their article and I find their translation of SM's statement better than Allkpop's. More clear with less awkward writing. But I'm still left with the question of what exactly this money was that SM gave to Tao and what he had to pay back.

S.M. ENTERTAINMENT Co., Ltd. is currently in the middle of a lawsuit against EXO member Wu Yifan (Kris), Luhan and Huang Zitao (Tao) with regards to their illegal activities with in China. Out of those the Chinese court has dictated that Huang Zitao payback SM what they paid him in advance with full interest.

Last April, Huang Zitao left EXO and the company without permission and requested SM Entertainment pay him an advance. SM Entertainment, in attempt to accommodate him better as an agency fulfilled this request. However, despite the fact that Huang Zitao knew the bank account information of the company, he did not pay back the amount owed within the promised timeline and went on to press a lawsuit against SM Entertainment for the invalidation of his contract.

The verdict of the Chinese court is a case where justice prevailed. Huang Zitao as a public figure failed to be an ethical model and pursued illegal activities with other companies in China and went against the spirit of his contract and betrayed the trust put on him completely. Showing his complete disregard towards even the most basic of ethical codes that make up our society.

We will not be satisfied here but will move to take legal action against all activities which infringes on the rights of SM and EXO. We will do our best to represent the innocent victims and prevent the cultural export between China and Korea from receiving further damages.
