Why do some songs have weird BPMs? 138.5 instead of 140 straight for dubstep, etc.

I'm done arguing in this thread. Just because I mentioned annoying, it seems those people that are guilty of such practise decide to defend their cause with false judgement. I admit I was a little too hostile because I kept getting nonsensical reasonings, but I don't give a damn with a throw away account.

What I took away from this

  • People still believe in magic like in the medieval age, just this time it's thinking like how the pixie dust of 1bpm can make or break a decision to be practical for the industry

  • And they based it on what their emotionally fragile feelings. Not some proven mathematical or scientific reasoning. Just what they like better, and oh so that's why it must be all true.

  • All producers with such practises apparently can't conceive an idea of any other creative ways to make up for whatever they FEEL was lost by not using the tempo they thought brought the song to perfection. There, 119.7 BPM, perfect! Everyone who had to be mildly troubled by this decision will surely appreciate my perfected masterpiece.

  • There are producers who apparently feel uninspired unless they are able to SWITCH IT UP YO with obscure things like 1bpm difference. Perhaps they find the idea of SWITCHING IT UP YO with increasing the pitch of their track by 0.005 factor interesting too.

  • Because flawed technology automatically syncs for us, we don't need to think the decision to complicate such processes over a totally insignificant, useless, delusional preference of 0.25bpm makes great sense.

  • Those who are unable to appreciate minor differences of 1bpm unlikely majority of the world has ascended to a higher level of existence where only they can truly enjoy music for what it is

  • Once again, not disappointed to learn there are always people who are "Can't respond his questions, better find and pick the weakest sentence of his that I can twist the intended meaning to save my dignity". Typical.

  • Creators of art should always be patronized, even if their product is being utilized commercially. See that name card holder with many cards of standard sizes? Let us all praise the guy who designed our company's name card to be 1cm too large to nicely fit in because he felt it aligned with the stars of his consciousness that way.

  • StormtrooperInDrag replied just in time to be ignored. Won't entertain useless one lined responses. This isn't a contest to see who can give the best one liners. I argue only to shove reality in your face. Like I said, even people like Mozart only needed a crude identifier for tempo to create masterpieces. While you fiddle at your knobs to precise parameters and think you're awesome.

That said, thanks to those who actually gave real reasons why such practises occur. They are understandable. But for those with paranormal reasonings, and those who think they are savants, you're probably shit at making music. Your supernatural ability to detect 1 BPM but can't explain it logically is obviously useless.

The end. Bye.
