Someone we know are officially becoming US citizens. Would it be offensive to gift them their first American flag as American citizens?

This is a personal preference and it really depends on the person you are thinking of. I know some family who only got their citizenship when trump became president because they weren’t sure what the fuck he was going to do with immigrants at any given date. They literally attended the swearing in ceremony as required then left- they didn’t even bring those small flags with them. I’m also a US citizen and if you give me a flag I’d say thank you but deep down think wtf you give me this for as 1) I don’t even display any flags so what makes you think I will now 2) getting citizenship through birth is nothing to be proud of 3) I don’t have deep rooted pride for being a US citizen as other people does.
