[SPOILERS] Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker Discussion - ReyLo Edition

I saw the movie last night and I'm seeing it again next week, but I have to admit guys... I'm angry.

Not with the movie, it was PHENOMENAL (especially the redemption scene between Ben and Han-- that pulled at the heartstrings), but the way they killed Ben was just INFURIATING to me.

This trilogy gave us an amazing character arc for both Rey and Ben. Rey began as a simple scrapper and became a JEDI and Ben/Kylo went from whiny villain to redeemed hero. Both of them grew out of their beliefs into solid characters, and yet, their ending just seems cheap and easy. (To me, at least.)

Don't get me wrong, the way he held her and brought her back made me cry tears of joy. It was beautiful. And his small smile?? Absolutely precious, but ugh!!! They finally redeem Ben and bring his character arc to a close just to kill him?

This made me (and a few of my non Reylo friends) frustrated because it felt like end of ROTJ. I loved Vader's redemption arc, and but they didn't have to "go for the nostalgia" and kill Ben like that.

Although yes, there are those who say that this was his complete redemption because he was too far gone, and I understand that, but to me and I'm sure a few of you see wasted potential.

In a few years their going to reboot or make new star wars movies, it's practically a given at this point. Wouldn't it have been cool if they kept him alive so he and Rey could train new Jedi? Or take out the remnants of the first order? Hell, there are so many possibilities that we didn't get to see!!

I'm just angry that they killed Ben because it feels like there is more to his story that what we got.
