Sportster 1250 kit, do's and don'ts?

I am never buying anything from hammer again. Got a 1275 for my 14 883 and now its sitting in a box in mu garage, useless. Installed the kit, had leaks. Turns out the cometic gaskets have different torque specs than the harley gaskets. Replaced gaskets with the harley brand. 500 miles of breakin later, i go yo virginia. Come back from virginia, let the bike sit, turn it on the next day and theres a horrible metal banging noise coming from the cylinder. After tearing the whole thing apart with a mechanic friend, found that the piston pin on one jug had too much freeplay and had started to knock around in the piston (pins still in place). Put my 883 pistons, pins, and jugs back in and the bike works like a charm. Sent the kit to hammer. 2 months later with no communication i called them, they said they just shipped out my package, which was the same pistons/pins and a new set of jugs. I had explained exactly what went wrong and they replaced the wrong part. Called them, and the reply i got was that i need to buy new pistons and that used the wrong gaskets???? Another guy i know had two 1250 kits blow on him (the headwork though). Personally, i say fuck em but i know other folks have had good experiences (shrug)
