Spring 2021 - Virtual Tabling and Discord Hook Up

Hey! We're the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space and we'd love to have you! https://discord.gg/nPfX4ks

We offer a lot of great opportunities to our members but primarily we have our Projects, Seminars and Community.

In terms of projects we don't require any academic knowledge or technical skills to get involved, many of our members begin as freshmen and learn on the projects themselves: -(IREC) We participate in the biggest international intercollegiate rocketry competition in the world in partnership with AIAA-UCF to research, design, build and launch a rocket from scratch including our own carbon fiber airframe, hybrid propulsion system, fuel, scientific payloads and avionics. All of which are exclusively done by students! -(SOJOURNER) We build working scale models of rovers in order to better understand the engineering involved in them! -(RASC-AL) Conduct research and write proposals and technical papers on topics featured in the annual NASA/NIA competition! -(Liquid Bi-Prop) Research, design, build, test a liquid propelled motor from scratch in order to hopefully use and easily re-manufacture for use on future IREC rockets. This project is especially interesting in that it is funded and overseen by our alumni in a practice senior-design format! -And others as the list constantly changes as projects are completed and new ones are taken on every semester, reach out to our Director of Projects for details!

We have several speakers come in every semester to get us excited about the industry as well as provide opportunities to our members! -Recruiters and employees from ULA, SpaceX, AGI, Blue Origin, NASA, NASA's contractors tell us about their work and give feedback on resumes and how best to get into the industry! -Prominent researchers at UCF in fields like Planetary Science, Space Medicine, Life Sciences and Engineering!

And an excellent community! While the pandemic has definitely made being social more difficult our members can be found on Discord working together all day on projects, classes, just hanging out or playing games together! We also regularly watch launches together, usually virtually currently but also socially distanced in person on occasion!

Finally, we welcome members of every discipline and major! Just like the actual space industry it takes a broad variety of skillsets to make everything work from needing engineers, computer scientists, scientists, artists and business majors to name a few! Everyone's welcome to join and if you're interested and passionate about space you can definitely find a way to get involved!

Ad Astra, feel free to hop on our Discord and find out more! https://discord.gg/nPfX4ks
