Really? As a kiwi I reckon this is a US-centric idea.

If you tell me you're "moving to America" my first question is 100%, every time, going to be "oh yeah, whereabouts in America" cause I have had friends in Canada and the US and I've no idea why I should assume the USA by default?? I am from New Zealand so they are just two ordinary countries in America to me.

I suspect that people who grow up in the USA are kinda taught this self-centred worldview that America = USA. That's my best guess about the direction of this thread; a lot of Americans assuming the rest of the world sees things the same way as they d, and can't imagine seeing it any other way?

Most of us see things VERY different to the culture you're raised in within the USA.
