Suggestion for eScooters for 10 miles commute in NYC (essential employee).

There was an article posted about it in this sub a few days ago. It’s worth scrolling back and clicking to read it. It’s a mixed bag of bad and good. Even though none of my scooters really exceed 15mph, I agree with you about the speed cap. The major upside is that prior to this, e-scooters & e-bikes were illegal, and while it wasn’t particularly enforced, it could be. People occasionally got them impounded merely for riding them. I’ve never been to New York so my perspective is far from first hand. It’s my understanding in most of NYC it’s very pedestrian heavy and traffic isn’t moving much faster than that anyway. I see this creating a big uptick in the use of PEVs for commuting and also delivery as a personal shift from using public transit and ride-share, in spite of the low speed. This also opens the door for rental bikes and scooters, which I strongly support. Most likely this is a win for OP, and certainly something he needs to know when choosing a scooter based on his post. Unlike more draconian laws around the EU, I don’t think the NY law prohibits the purchase, import or possession of a scooter that exceeds 15mph. For most of the rest of the state, it’s complete bullshit, and what you said said is on point 100%. No one in Long Island is going to abandon their SUV to commute at 15mph. FWIW, I live in Phoenix and although I have a car, I haven’t drove it in over two weeks, doing all my local “essential” errands via scooter.
