Suggestion: Let's forbid discussion of pirated content

You don't need to tell me that I missed your point, I already stated outright that I couldn't even tell what your point was. Btw, I didn't say anything that could specifically only be applied to "giant commercial products", what I said applies to the indies as much as anyone else.

Piracy does not count as advertising. It's a very rare pirate who will go out and buy something after getting the whole thing for free, and piracy doesn't have billboards or TV channels. People only go out and pirate something because they're already aware of it - it's not piracy that exposes them to it in the first place. That's a really weak argument from someone who just seems to want to morally justify piracy.

Have you ever heard of samples? Or does the financial industry not understand that concept? Say I make cakes, and I want to sell you a cake. I don't have to give you an entire cake to let you decide if you like it, I can just give you a small slice, then you can decide if you want to pay for more. That's what the short sample videos available from Virtual Real Porn are for.

And, just so you can't remove your post to try and hide your nonsense like you've threatened, here's a copy of your post:

You completely miss the point, we're talking about oculus related contents here, not the gigantic commercial products. But for your sake, let's also talk about the giant commercial products (which has nothing to do with this sub at all). Of course there will be cases where it was ripped without permission but that actually helps the product believe it or not, depending on the situation. In this case, the case of oculus related market, it will help almost all products. As for the huge market like say, APPLE or MICROSOFT, yes, pirated hardware, contents etc. could hurt the sales because their market is already huge and they don't need advertisements, something that is very much lacked in a small market (such as the Oculus related market). Pirated content did just that, advertising, in the form of giving it away for free. Have you ever heard of the phrase "A rising tide lifts all boats"? That's exactly how the market works, the more people exposes to it, the better. Even if most of them don't buys it, it doesn't matter because say, if there is 1 out of 100 people buys it then you only need to expose it to 100,000 people then a 1000 of them will buys it. You see, it's about advertising and exposes it to a lot of people. Which the pirated content did just that, advertising. Again, this is especially true for a small market such as the Oculus related market. I attain these knowledge through sheer experience, i've been working in the financial industry for more than 6 years now. I don't need to explain that the financial industry is connected to the economy, business and the market do i? Indie games developer will give it away for free AND still sells it because there will always be someone out there who buys it. (The market does not comprise of just one person). Just give me a quick reply once this is done, i'm going to pull my post since i don't know why i wanted to make you guys smarter, i'll never post in this stupid thread again.
