So by "South" I actually meant the Midlands, and there were a bunch of flats for the same amount of rent I pay now for a 2 bed - helpful as I've wanted a smaller place for a while.

I hear what you;re saying. Part of the reason is I've become serious disillusioned by my profession (IT) hence the semi-ironic flair I'm rocking at the moment. Computing is going down a path that is the complete opposite of my principals, and unless I retrain and shift into the GNU/Linux space (my work skills are Windows, but my home setup is GNU/Linux). The jobs inline with my current position at the place I was looking is several thousand higher starting which along with the fact that I basically have nothing holding me here anymore is why I considered such a radical move.
