You're entirely right there, I was a bit clumsy with what I was saying. But that's part of my point in the longer post I just made.

The Tories don't care about transgender people they only care so far as it can win them votes.

Labour on the other hand is constantly showing signs of trying to avoid the discussion by not saying anything that would commit them to anything.

So this isn't a fight Labour wants, this is a fight the Tories want.

It's also easier for the government to avoid these things and control the narrative on these things. For example, this entire news story and this discussion only exist because it's what the government is pushing for. These guidelines are only being put in place to create more division and stir up the culture war before the local elections.

If they get no traction and no success with this culture war then they stop pushing this culture war. But division creates traction.
