Superhero RPG campaign. Advice needed

Supers is my favorite genre. I love it, and I've played every superhero game I can get my hands on. My recommendations: Marvel Heroic.

I'll tell you why, by summarizing my experience with each system:

• Heroes Unlimited: The first game system I played was Palladium and their old TMNT game remains a nostalgic favorite. HU is comprehensive, has tons of powers, allows for a lot of customization with characters through skills, gear, etc. In fact, making characters is probably my favorite part of this game. The system is old, clunky and in serious need of updated, but it has its fans for a couple of good reasons: Active Defense and Multiple Attacks per melee. I can go into more detail, but it makes for some very fun combats. Powers are cool, and you can do a lot with them, but the difference between a level 1 Magnetic Villian and a level 10 are almost null, outside of increased damage and range. You really want a system that puts its focus on the powers. Aaaand, no system does that better than...

• Marvel Superheroes RPG (FASERIP): This old TSR game still has a ton of online community support and there are pirate copies of the PDFs available anywhere. I love the power rankings, the simple mechanics, and the ability to truly customize your character. Gameplay requires percentile dice and the use of a table to figure results. Excellent for Marvel Heroes, and can handle multiple settings, and I will say it feels more like the 1980's version of supers. That's not an indictment, by any means.

Mutants and Masterminds: As has been referenced, this game sets the style of gameplay by limiting the power level (at chargen). It's based on D20 , and I think after HU and Marvel RPG FASERIP it didn't set itself apart in anyway (Palladium is a D20 system, too). If I had started with this system, I think I would have enjoyed it more.

• Champions: I came at this one late. Again, had I started with it, I probably would be still playing it. It handles powers in a similar way to FASERIP (power rankings) and is sufficiently crunchy to make for some fun tactical gameplay. It's probably a bit too complex for my tastes (HU is, too, but it was my reference point).
