Teachers of Reddit, WHY are you choosing the quiet kid over the kid with a raised hand?

I had a math teacher for an ENTIRE YEAR that would call on me literally knowing I didn’t know the answer. I was the only one who didn’t know the answer and the only one without my hand raised. Sure as shit I’d get called on every single time. I tried the reverse psychology and started raising my hand and of course she’d call on me then too. Oh and let’s not forget that every time, literally EVERY TIME I would say that I didn’t know she’d make me go up to the board and try to solve the problem and all it would be was me standing there with tears filling my eyes and a marker in my hand staring at the board. The worst part? She wouldn’t help. She wouldn’t let other students help. So I’d stand there for up to 15 minutes in dead silence just being embarrassed by this teacher like every class and it was absolute torture. I never understood why she did that to me. But honestly, screw that teacher that was the worst experience of all time.
