Tell Us About Your Game <87>

GMing a game for my brother who never gets to play because he always GMs. We're introducing mythic for the first time too.

So far he woke up in a field with no memory of who he is or how he got there. He accidentally started a forest fire that burnt an entire town to the ground (it was evil anyway), and had to escape the forest fire after escaping the town.

After reaching the next town I am able to start the main story arc. So far the party (which joined him today and may be gone tomorrow) cleared out a groups stronghold that was causing trouble in the town. Just after killing them they released a huge water elemental that had extra abilities which they barely killed without losing anyone. The hole battle went 20-25 rounds straight and two of them would have died in a mother round.

After searching the building they find a wizard's research library the likes of which has never been seen. It's a 20' x 15' room filled with books and with a desk in the middle. The amount of information in the room would have taken lifetimes to collect and contains information so powerful that the words them selves are creating a magical aura in the room besides the fact that there are probably spell written these book that would take a god to cast.

While arguing with a party member who wants to keep what they can use versus burn the entire place and lock up the rest because some books are clearly marked but most are identified by some form of shorthand, my brother pulls a book from a shelf beside the other party member and tells him to " read it, if you think going through any of this to see what we can save is a good idea than start hear." He doesn't look at it though so the book is through to the floor and it lands open. They continue to argue until the other member looks points to the book and I make him role a will save and don't tell them the result. Thinking he may be possessed they make him drink a protection from evil potion to see the effect but everything seems fine. My brother asks him what was on the page and he says "Cthulhu." The door slams shut and the lights go out. My brother tries to open the door, the door opens, the lights go back on, the book is back on the shelf, they get the F out of there.

They are outside and my brother is still thinking that something is up and unsummons his mount, breathing a sigh of relief when it disappears. They go back the next day and the room is completely different. There is no evidence that there was ever a wizards library here and nothing to suggest it's presence was covered up, they breath another sigh of relief thinking it was a pocket dimension that lost it's anchor or something. They walk outside and the mount from yesterday is there.

Then I had to call it a night. They don't know that the party member that identified what was on the page isn't actually in the illusion, it's just the other members mental picture of him. They've been in the illusion since the lights went out. I think I'm going to make them kill him to end the illusion.
