Do you think there is more racism in the gay community than the straight community, and do you think the gay community focuses more on White men than non-White men?

Interesting thing, and this is just my opinion, I think that there is more racism in the USA today than there was 10 years ago. And, some of the things I share below are likely factors.

I do not mind talking about racism, or discussing where racism exists. However, it seems like too many things are being classified as racist today. When this happens, it creates tension, frustration and resistance. Why? Because increasing people are subtly (and overtly) being referred to as "racist" even when it is not true.

It is getting to the point that there is a broad assumption that white people (and only white people) are racists. Well, THAT is racism. And, this continual drum-beat of whites being racist is, in my opinion, actually CREATING more racism in our society. So, instead of racism being reduced, all of this white-blame is increasing racial tension.

My husband and I talk a lot about race. Why? Because we are an interracial couple. Are some whites racist? Yes. Is it more prevalent in the gay community? I don't know. I THINK it's just that we're more sensitive to it happening within our community, but that it isn't more prevalent. But again, I don't know.

Although not PC to say, let's not pretend that racism towards whites is non-existent, or that it is even difficult to find. Racism goes both ways - and ONLY talking about whites as guilty of racism is NOT helping us overcome racism. It is simply creating MORE racism and animosity. It is very unfortunate because racism is very real - and extremely harmful.

Bottom line, in my opinion, if we continue seeing these things (the above 2 things) as acceptable, I don't see racism diminishing anytime soon. We really need to stop this constant false-labeling and relentless finger pointing. Those are doing much more harm than they are good.
