There is No “Linux” Platform (Part 2)

Lets be clear:

  • There are changes that get lost in the shuffle, and I think everyone agrees more effort for upstream push needs to happen. This is not in question...

  • There are changes that were suggested upstream, but upstream GNOME devs push back and say, 'no this isn't the direction they want to go'. What are the distributions suppose to do? Wait for GNOME to fix? ok... look at GNOME 3 and how long its taken for them to slowly add features back after they've failed to listen to their community.

  • There are changes that were suggested upstream, but upstream GNOME devs push back and say, 'not a priority'. Again, what are the distributions suppose to do? Ah, wait until it is which is never becomes because GNOME is like Google in that they thrash on ideas almost every year or abandon projects midway through...

GNOME has tried to redesign Photos like 3 times now? Calendar? ... pretty terrible track record if you ask me.
